They are struck with the London assay mark of 1819 showing the head of George III & the makers stamp of "TW over JH" (Thomas Wallace & Jonathan Hayne). The shell moulding is applied to both front & back of the spoons. Each piece is in pristine, original condition. This rare & early set is of good quality & would suit the most discerning collector. |

$ 2500 AUDOffered for your consideration is an absolutely magnificent 4 piece sterling silver tea / coffee service consisting of Teapot, Water pot / Coffee Pot, Sugar bowl & Cream jug. All pieces are in pristine, original, undamaged condition save a very fine mark on the sugar bowl. The quality of build is superlative. All decoration is sharp & accurately applied. The design is of Celtic influence showing an elaborate frieze decoration to each piece. A serpent motif is applied to each spout. The teapot stands 6 1/2 inches tall, the coffee pot 8 1/2 inches tall, the creamer 4 inches tall & the sugar bowl 3 inches tall. The weight of build is very substantial. Total weight is 1958 grams. The hallmarks of each piece are identical & show the makers stamp of "A Bros Ltd" & sterling silver assay marks of Birmingham1954. The teapot lid, handle & finial are also hallmarked. Each piece is also stamped "Made in England" to the base. Adie Brothers Ltd. was founded 1879 in Birmingham & was well respected for excellence in traditional silver tableware. |

Both knife & fork are hallmarked Sheffield 1857 & struck with the makers stamp "RM EH" (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall - Martin Hall & Co.). The hallmarks appear on the knife blade, the fork shoulder & also the fork ferrule. The handles are mother of pearl & are engraved with the image of a bird holding a rose. The knife measures 9 inches & the fork 7 1/2 inches. The set is complete with its original leather bound fitted case. The quality of manufacture is superlative & the condition is good & original. |

Thomas Bradbury III & John S. Henderson were well noted for producing elaborate & decorative silverware of fine quality during the high Victorian era. The business was founded in 1832 at Arundel Street Sheffield by Thomas Bradbury I & ran till 1916. The design is of classic ewer style & proportion. The quality of build is superlative. It stands high at 9 1/2 inches & weighs a substantial 422 grams. It is a very handsome piece. The handle is ebony & has no movement. There is no damage & no evidence of repair or modification. It stands perfectly sound & straight & the lid operates smoothly. |
